Florence Elizabeth Mast Ehrhardt, age 100, of Quincy, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the home of her daughter, Sue, St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on May 5, 1916 near Fowler, IL, the daughter of Henry and Ida (Talken) Mast. Mrs. Ehrhardt graduated from St. Francis School and Notre Dame Academy. She married Wilbur John Ehrhardt on September 4, 1937 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Wilbur died March 6, 1980.

A life-long resident of Adams County, Florence was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Third Order of the Secular Franciscans. When she was young, Florence was a 4-H member and served on the Adams County 4-H Federation Committee. Later she was a 4-H leader.

She taught in the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine program at St. Peter Parish, and holds a Life Membership in the Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers. She wrote for Western Illinois University to preserve the Social History of West Central Illinois and is a published author in Tales from Two Rivers.

Florence and Wilbur were charter members of the Q City Squares and the Wagon Wheelers square dance clubs. She was a Certified Home Health Aide and worked as an aide for twenty four years, and served on the Board of Directors of the Adams County Homemaker Health Service.

She enjoyed sewing and her work was exhibited at the “Stitches in Time Quilt and Needlework Show” in Quincy and at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield, IL. She made clothing for her children, her own square dance dresses and did alteration work in her home for many years. She played bridge at the Senior Center and other card games with family and friends. Her pies were legendary, appreciated by the lucky ones who had a piece!

Florence enjoyed good health for 100 years and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with relatives and friends at her 100th birthday party earlier this year.

ONE BROTHER, Paul Mast and his wife Joan of Quincy.

In addition to her husband, Wilbur, and her parents, Florence was preceded in death by one son, Frederick, a son-in law, Donald; five brothers, Eugene, Leo, Lawrence, Roger, and George, and two sisters Mildred Frericks, and Theresa Mast.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:30 until 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Secular Franciscan Service at 3:30 p.m. There will also be visitation on Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at church.
