Florence E. Koetters
Florence E. Koetters, age 84 of 2728 North 72nd St. Quincy died on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 11:00p.m. in St. Vincents Home. Florence was born March 3, 1928 in Quincy, a daughter of Fred and Mabel (Ewing) Breuer. On April 30, 1949, she married Ralph Leonard Koetters in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quincy. Ralph preceded her in death March 24, 2012.
Florence was a homemaker and a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Years ago, she had worked for Motorola Co.
Florence was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Altar Society and the Quilters Group at the church.
She loved being outdoors and she was a softball and volleyball player in her younger years. She bowled for a number of years and was an avid card player.
Survivors are her FOUR CHILDREN: William Koetters and his wife Tana of Quincy; Margie Goodapple and her husband Rick of Quincy; Rosemary Koetters of Quincy and Michael Koetters and his wife Annette of Fowler, IL.
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Mary Martin and her husband Pat, Jenny and Andrew Goodapple, Heather and Brennan Koetters.
ONE GREAT-GRANDCHILD: Aiden Martin;
A SISTER: Helen Tournear of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her siblings, Ruth Breuer, Dorothy Kaufmann, Harold, Emery, Richard and Donald Breuer.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 24, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:45 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by Rev. Jeff Stone. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy. There will be a prayer service Sunday at 4:00 p.m. followed by visitation from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Adams County Chapter of the Alzheimers Association, Blessing Foundation for Hospice or the Adams County Special Olympics. www.dukerandhaugh.com
So sorry to hear of Florence’s passing…you have my prayers and thoughts during this time of loss. I remember Florence being a kind and friendly lady when I was growing up and spending time with her and your family. She as well as your dad treated me with kindness…I remember the good times spent at their house with the neighborhood crew.
