Finis “Virginia” Stroud

Finis ‘Virginia’ Stroud, age 91, of Quincy, died on Monday, July 5, 2021 in the Sunset Home. She was born on April 19, 1930 in Loraine, Illinois the daughter of Edward and Cecelia (Haubrock) Starman. She married Ole DeWitt Stroud on July 14, 1951. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1983.

Virginia worked in the linen department at Blessing Hospital for many years.
She was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church.

Virginia was an avid CUBS fan. She also liked NASCAR where Jimmie Johnson was her favorite driver, WWE wrestling, Elvis and Johnny Cash. Virginia enjoyed going out to breakfast with her daughter and was a world champion pumpkin pie maker.

She is survived by:
HER DAUGHTER: Elva ‘Rosey’ Stroud
Numerous other relatives also survive, including Chance Gooding and Bobbie Curley whom she considered her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Virginia was also preceded in death by her parents and all of her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in new Providence Cemetery in Ursa. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 9 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.
