Ferne Craft Kruser

Ferne Irene Craft-Kruser, age 75, of Palmyra, Mo, died on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Mo. She was born on July 20, 1940 in Washington, IA, a daughter of Joseph Harold Christner and Hazel Irene (Dawson) Christner.

For many years, Ferne and Kenny were owners of Quincy Discount Jeans. She had also been employed by Golden Corral and the Circuit Clerk’s office in Quincy.

Ferne’s first love was her family, followed by an avid love for the St. Louis Cardinals and her two cats, Blackjack and Sloopy. Some of her family’s fondest memories were watching Ferne following in her mother’s footsteps dancing to, “Good Hearted Woman”.

Ferne is survived by:
Her companion of 38 years, Kenny Kruser
Five children, Dawn Nichols (Dave), Debbie Gardner (Cameron Steffen), Lori Hultz, Cathy Malone (Jerry), and Jim Craft (Jenny Durr).
Nine Grandchildren, Eric Stover II, Jessica, Justin, and Randa Gardner, Robbie, Lindsey, and Natalie Barton, and Trista and Brooke Malone.
Eleven Great-Grandchildren
A Brother, Lee (LeeRaye) Christner
A Sister, Judy (Larry) Rotenburger

She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandchild, Dallas Stover, and 2 great-grandchildren, Braxton Whisler and Remmington Mitchum, and 2 brothers, Robert and Dale Christner.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Payson Town Hall. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

    I knew Ferne for a few years as I was friends with Dawn at WACO. She is a wonderful memory of my childhood. I will miss the fun, spunky mother that taught me to spell antidisestablishmentarianism on the kitchen blackboard. With Fondness and Love, Diane

    Happy Heavenly Trails to the MOST BEAUTIFUL and CARING SISTER and MOTHER that anyone could ever imagine! Ferne, you were one in a MILLION, just like our Mom and Dad Raised us to be and Yes, PERFECTION was inherited and we learned from the Best!!
    You Worked Very hard to raise Five Absolutely Beautiful Children who Worship their Precious MaMa as do all your Grand and Great Grandchildren!!
    I will Never forget our Growing up on the Farm with our Fun Loving brothers Robert, Lee and last but not least DaleDale!!! We had so many Precious Memories and Laughs. I so remember play’n Fox n Goose and making Snow Angels and building IGLOOS and the Snows covered the fence post in the lane and how you would tell me to ask Dad, “Can we PLEASE go Roller Skating tonight” and he would say if you can make it out of the lane and not get stuck in the snow” He didn’t know that we took Dale & a scoop shovel with us and when we got to the top of the lane that Dale & I would shovel and PUSHHHH our way out and we’d go skate’n in Washington even tho the School Bus couldn’t pick us up for school!!!!!
    REST IN PEACE BEAUTIFUL SISTER, We will all be together again Someday!!! Until then, MANY HAPPY “GOOD HEARTED WOMAN TRAILS IN HEAVEN! I can just see you and Mom Jitterbug’n together!
