Ferdie E. Vonderheide

Ferdie E. Vonderheide, age 78, of Quincy, died on Friday, December 28, 2018 in his home. He was born on May 16, 1940 in Quincy, IL the son of Rome & Agnes (Peters) Vonderheide. He married Carolyn Schneider on September 19, 1964. She survives. Ferdie worked at Deter’s Dairy, Willer’s Dairy and then Prairie Farms until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army Reserve.

Ferdie enjoyed being with his grandchildren and attending their activities whenever he could. He liked his birdhouses, trips to the gambling boat, playing cards, and going to O’Sheas. He also liked to go to local garage sales.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: David A. Vonderheide and his wife Ellen of Fowler, IL; and Debbie Hollensteiner and her husband Bruce of Quincy.
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Carson Vonderheide, Emily Vonderheide, and Natalie Vonderheide, Justin Hollensteiner and his wife Katherine; Brody Hollensteiner, Brock Hollensteiner, and Cameron Bergman.
ONE BROTHER: Roy Vonderheide and his wife Joan
ONE SISTER: Margie Mast.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Ferdie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Virgil Vonderheide and Norbert Vonderheide.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.

    Carolyn and family – so sorry to hear of Ferdie’s passing.I have fond memories of him when everyone was young and hanging out with my siblings and mom and dad. I even remember your wedding. You have my thoughts of healing as you go through these days of mourning and saying your final goodbyes…Higs to you
