F. “Butch” Holtshouser

F. “Butch” Holtshouser of 68, of 1125 South 14th St. Quincy died on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in his home. Butch was born September 10, 1945 in Quincy, a son of Richard “Shorty” and Leona Faye (Dooley) Holtshouser. He married Marjorie Heck on December 22, 1966 and she preceded him in death April 21, 2004. He married Kathy Myers on March 15, 2013 in Quincy, and she survives.
Butch was an A.S.E. Certified Parts-Pro at Auto Zone until his retirement. He was a 1962 graduate of Quincy High School, and he also attended technical school.
He served his country in the 101st. Infantry of the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany during his service-time.
Butch was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved cars and in his younger years, he enjoyed drag racing.
In addition to his wife Kathy, survivors also include his two children, Linda (David) French and
Raymond E. Holtshouser all of Quincy; 3 step-sons, Daryl, Pete and Christopher all of Quincy;
3 grandchildren, Ashley, Janelle and Mason Holtshouser; three step-grandchildren, Andrew, Jonah and Chase Gordon; two great-grandchildren, Baryden and Jayce Holtshouser;
A sister Linda Kane and a brother Ronnie (Jean) Holtshouser and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marjorie and two brothers-in-law, Michael Karhoff and William Heck.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. Dennis Thomas. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post #37 and the Illinois National Guard Burial Detail. Visitation is Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

    I was given the pleasure years ago to work with Butch, always a great person to be around, everyone loved him! So sorry for your loss.

    My condolences to the family and friends of Frank Holtshouser. I think Frank and I were in metals and motors class together in high school. I remember him being always kind back then. Anytime I saw him usually at the parts store, he recognized me right off. Just saying, he was a really nice guy.

    Rest in Peace Butch. You were a Great guy & will truly be missed. You were always there ready to lend a helping hand so many times over the years. They just don’t make them like you anymore. My condolences to all family members.
