Everett E. “Gene” Uplinger, age 66, of 1327 North 5th, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in Blessing Hospital. He was born on November 16, 1948 in Quincy, IL, the son of George and Bonnie (Parrick) Holt. Gene was a mechanic for the City of Quincy for many years before his retirement.

He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Gene enjoyed riding his motorcycle and working on cars. He also greatly enjoyed boating.

He is survived by:
TWO CHILDREN: Carrie Anderson and her husband Paul of LaGrange, MO and Chad Uplinger and his wife Tracy of Quincy
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: Chase Anderson, Garrett Anderson, Robby Kimbrell, McKenna Uplinger and Camden Uplinger.
TWO BROTHERS: Dale E. Holt and Joe A. Holt.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Edward Holt and a brother Melvin Holt in infancy, a sister: Kathryn Harmon and a nephew David Holt.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park with military rites conducted at the cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the ALS Foundation.
