Evelyn Marie Reis of Quincy went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at 6:55 a.m. in St. Vincent’s Home. Evelyn was born in Griggsville, IL on March 7, 1923, the daughter of Ray W. and Katherine (Polley) Dorsey. She was married to Lawrence “Babe” Reis on April 22, 1944. They were together for 62 years. He went to be with the Lord on December 11, 2005 at the age of 83 years old.
Evelyn enjoyed studying God’s Word in the Bible and to have others explain God’s plan for His children here on earth; especially the spiritual promises and the spiritual abundant life offered to everyone according to their choice. She allowed Jesus to be the center of her life.
She belonged to many Bible Study groups, including the Life in the Spirit Seminar. Evelyn enjoyed retirement with her husband for 14 years in Sun Lakes, AZ, but decided to move back to Quincy because of her husband’s failing health.
Survivors include her sister, Margaret Gerrie of St. Louis, MO; and a sister-in-law Pat Dorsey. Her five children, David (Ann) Reis; Patricia (Ron) Doyle; Joyce (Kevin) Frericks all of Quincy; Ann (Steve) Wheeler of Paradise Valley, AZ; Christopher (Kelley) Reis of Dacula, GA; a sister-in-law Pat Dorsey; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.
A private family celebration of Evelyn’s life here on earth will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Blessing Foundation for Hospice. Arrangements are with the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
