Evelyn A. Phillips
Evelyn A. Phillips age 94, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 9:45 p.m. in Good Samaritan Home. Evelyn was born May 18, 1920 in Quincy a daughter of Edward and Susan (Price) Dieker. She married Donald H. Phillips on June 12, 1943 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quincy. Don preceded her in death on December 14, 1991.
Evelyn was a homemaker and a seamstress, she worked at Schemmings Men’s Store until they closed.
She was a member of the former St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and currently is a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Evelyn enjoyed following St. Louis Cardinal Baseball, she liked to travel, and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Edward H. Phillips and his wife Jane; Donna Sue Clarke all of Quincy; Michael J. Phillips of Columbia, MO; Karen M. Fish and her husband Joe of Taylor, MO; Steven Phillips and his wife Donna of Maywood, MO:
11 Grandchildren, Edwards Phillips, Jr. and his wife Karen of Oconomowok, WI; Dr. Pamela Phillips Friye and her husband Travis of Peoria, IL; Paul D. Phillips and his wife Lacey of Forsyth, IL; Stacy Raymond and her husband Brian of Bolingbrook, IL; Brian Clarke and his wife Michele of Quincy; Lukas Phillips and his wife Trisha of Hollister, MO; Lindsay Phillips of St. Louis, MO; Matt Greifer of St. Charles, IL: Tim Greifer and his wife Leslie of Bolingbrook, IL; Adam Fish and his wife Carla of Lewistown, MO; and JayDon Phillips serving in the U.S. Army stationed in Hawaii.
18 Great- Grandchildren, two sisters-in-law Berneice Phillips of Quincy and Doris Dieker of Ursa and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Danny J. Phillips; her brother, Joe Dieker and a sister, Connie Einhaus and her husband Leroy; a sister-in-law Delora Whitney and a brother-in-law, Harold Phillips.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials are suggested to: St. Francis Catholic Church.
Ed and Family, So sorry for your loss. We lost the big rose bush this summer and it was waiting in Heaven for your Mom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Ed, Donna and other siblings, meant your mom while visiting from Legion of Mary with Marcy Hayden, she was a very pleaseant nice lady & enjoyed conversing about family and her collection of dolls. My condolence.
