Eugene R. Murawski age 91, of Quincy, died late Tuesday evening, August 21, 2018 in Sunset Home. Eugene was born June 28, 1927 in Hannibal, MO, a son of Victor and Christine (Roszak) Murawski. He was a graduate of McCooey High School (Hannibal). He married Jean A. Klunk in St. Charles, MO on April 28, 1962 and she survives.

Eugene was a hard worker throughout his life. Beginning work as a teenager, Eugene worked with his brother Willie at a drugstore in Hannibal. His Dad got him a job after that working on the railroad near Hannibal. Eugene had an affable personality and went on to work in sales for Singer sewing machines. From there he became a lineman and installer for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Moberly and Mexico, Missouri. He sold many Princess telephones and other corded telephones in his years with the company. A gifted salesman, Eugene was recognized as district top salesman both at Singer, as well as numerous years during his tenure at Southwestern Bell.

He and his wife Jean were members of the “Pioneers” a Southwestern Bell Telephone retirement club. Eugene was a successful inventor and was granted many patents over his lifetime including: US7305811B2 Side mower deck for a mower tractor (2005), US7975459B1 String trimmer attachment for a riding lawn mower (2010), USD447313S1 Mailbox mail delivery signal (2001), USD262255S Princess Telephone Nutcracker (1979).

A talented woodworker, he made many beautiful hardwood items for his family to cherish. Eugene was a devout Catholic and optimistic in times of challenges, and at all times showed his deep concern about the well-being of his family, whom he loved, supported and made his priority.

In addition to his wife, Jean survivors also include his two daughters: Christine (Dr. Douglas) Sullivant of Quincy and Melinda (David) Adams of Clinton, UT; Three granddaughters: Dr. Christina (Bradley) Fullmer of Tacoma, WA, Emily Sullivant and Charlotte Sullivant of Columbia, MO (University of Missouri), and Sister-in-law: Bea Murawski of Carthage, MO. Nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Jerome V. Murawski and his wife Mary Jo, Donald F. Murawski, one sister, Catherine Murawski and a brother Willard S. Murawski.
