“Wisenheimer”
I can’t remember how many times Uncle Gene used that word to describe us when we were kids. “Stop being a wisenheimer,” or “Get over here you wisenheimer.” Of course it was always said with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes.
I have caught myself calling the children in my life “wisenheimers” and the puzzled look on their faces until they looked back at me and saw the smile on my face.
The best memories of my childhood were centered around trips to Quincy. Spending time with my cousins and waiting for Uncle Gene to walk up the block as he returned home from work.
Every family deserves to have an Uncle Gene in their life. We were blessed to have had the original.
Uncle Smoky I will miss you and hold in my heart all the lessons you taught me by just being yourself.
Love Twig
I got to know Smokey later in his life. First met him at the 6:30 am mass at st francis. For the last few years I have worked with him on his personal income tax. A true man of faith who by example was a leader. He truly left the world a better place than he entered it. I’ll remeber him anytime I hear the nickname “Smokey” and a smile will come to my face.

You know I’d be there if I could….
Let me know if there’s anything I can do.

RIP Eugene “Smokey” Mueller. You were a wonderful man, I was privileged to call a friend and “Uncle”. Many wonderful memories of our families camping & spending time together. You were a great husband, father, grandfather, friend & Alderman. You will be greatly missed. We now have another angel to watch over us. All our love to the family. The Barlows & Bolls.
Ruthie,
My deepest sympathy on your loss on behalf of myself and Donny. Smoky was a good man, as you well know. He helped talked me through a couple rough spots when I was clearing out Sandy and Don’s house. He was always waiting should I need a word or two of encouragement. You have to know that Smoky and Sandy are up there, sitting at a picnic table, drinking a beer together by now. Take care, Be strong,
Theresa Ludwig
Ruthie and family,
Our heartfelt sympathies from all of us. Smoky was such a wonderful man. We all had some wonderful times together camping, at soup suppers and just enjoying each others company. He will be truly missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers. He is probably sharing stories & laughing with Mom about camping at Wyakonda or going to Pete’s Boathouse. Please let us know if there is anything you need or we can do. Beth (Boll) Barlow and family
The Woods family holds Leo in great esteem. We’re so sorry about your family’s loss. If there’s anything you need, please let us know. You are in our prayers.
