Eugene “Gene” C. Crouch

Eugene “Gene” C. Crouch age 77, of Quincy died on Friday, September 14, 2018 in the Illinois Veteran’s Home. Gene was born in Quincy on February 23, 1941 a son of Gilbert and Lily Marie (Hultz) Crouch. Gene first married Claudette Burrow, and she preceded him in death. His longtime loving companion Patricia (Schuessler) Sparks also preceded him in death in 2010.
Gene was retired after working as a driver for Rail Crew Express.
He was a graduate of Quincy Senior High School. Gene enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was proud of having served his country during the Vietnam War. A talented electrician, he achieved the rank of E5.
Gene enjoyed fishing and was known for building fishnets. He was passionate about playing the guitar, he could play all kinds of guitars and all kinds of music.
Gene is survived by his children: Ronald Crouch of Liberty, David Crouch of Quincy and Samantha Carrell of Quincy. Three grandchildren: Kayli Crouch, Bethanymae and Chloelyn Carrell, all of Quincy. One sister: Rose Doran of Marblehead. Nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Elvin Crouch.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Sunset Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. in All Faiths Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.
