Eugene F. “Gene” Kelle

Eugene F. “Gene” Kelle, age 87, of 2204 Spring Street, died on Saturday, May 7, 2016 in his home. He was born on April 3, 1929 in Quincy, a son of John J. & Ellen M. (Adair) Kelle. He married Suzanne M. Rischar on May 17, 1958 in St. John’s Catholic Church in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Kelle was a bartender for Larry’s Tavern (Costigan’s), for twenty-four years. He then managed the Elks Club, and retired from there in 1986.

Gene was a long-time member of the Elks Club, South Side Boat Club and Twin Oaks Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing golf and pool. He was a die-hard Cubs fan. Gene loved spending time with his grandkids at their camp at Lake of the Oaks.

In addition to his wife, Suzanne, he is survived by four daughters, Julie Schaller and her husband Jeff of Quincy, Janet Hinds and her husband Alan of Maywood, MO, Jerri Hall and her husband Bruce of Quincy and Jill Kelle Little and her husband Steve of Springfield, IL;
Eight grandchildren: Danielle Schaller and Dalton (fiancé Sarah Peterson) Schaller; Kelley and Jennifer Welchert; Jacob and Madeline Hall; Brendon and Rachael Little.

Many, loving nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Marvin, Paul, Charles and Richard Kelle; and four sisters, Carolyn Goodson, Edith Hull, Eleanor Kelle and Dorothy Cookson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. Duc Pham, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday beginning at 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in his memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
