Ethel M. Vandiver
Ethel M. Vandiver age 91, of Curtis Creek Retirement Home died on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 1:11 a.m. in Blessing Hospital. Ethel was born March 2, 1923 in Shelbyville, MO a daughter of Billie and Irene (Robinson) Tungate.
Ethel was a gifted artist, working for several Quincy florists, and retiring from Melrose Gardens in 1980. Ethel was a member of Faith Christian Church.
She was a charter member of the Quincy China Painters, and currently served as Treasurer. She was a talented china painter, and painted many lovely gifts for friends and family. Her many great friends and her family will always cherish her.
Survivors include her three sons, Bill (Linda) Vandiver; Jim (Ann) Vandiver and Tom (Lynn) Vandiver.
Eight grandchildren, Michelle (Kyle) Ericson; Eric (Michelle) Vandiver; Nicole Vandiver; Joseph Vandiver; Josh (Kristin) Vandiver; Jenna (Jamie) Hull; Jessica (Mike) Sapp and Ben Vandiver. 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; a sister, Ann Kemp and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Sue Adam.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in Faith Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Henry Pratt. Family and friends are invited to the services. Private interment will be in Shelbyville, MO. Memorials may be made to Faith Christian Church. Arrangements are in care of the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. www.dukerandhaugh.com
Tom, I am so sorry to learn of the loss of your Mother, she was lovely and gracious lady. Your family is in my prayers.
Tom, I am sorry to hear about your mother’s death. I know she meant a lot to you. I remember her from our high school days. May you and your family have peace during this difficult time.
