Ethel M. Mowen

Ethel M. Mowen, age 88, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Herman Addition, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in the Home. She was born on August 29, 1926 in Kinderhook, IL the daughter of Earl & Bernice (Boss) Vincent. She married Earl T. Mowen on December 9, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 30, 2004. Prior to her marriage, Ethel worked at several jobs including the International Shoe Factory, the Dura Steel Plant during WWII making bomb adapters, and the Shoe Factory in Hannibal. She also had worked for Brower Manufacturing and Lincoln School. After her marriage, Ethel was proud to become a housewife. She always had a great love for animals and enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the Good Samaritan Home for the wonderful care Ethel received.

She is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Joyce Graham and her husband Bill of Hannibal, MO; Judy Nall of Mendon and Tom Mowen of Plainville, IL.
FIVE GRANDCHILDREN: William B. Graham and his wife Stephanie, Sandra Cooper and her husband Donnie, David Gasko and his wife Lisa; Jenny Patton and Thomas L. Mowen, Jr.
A SISTER: Lucy Schulten and her husband Don along with 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her husband, Ethel was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Carl & Charlie Vincent and a sister Louise Bernice Vincent in infancy.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Pastor Tony Metz. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society.
