Ethel Louise Beeler, 93, of Quincy, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Blessing Hospital. Ethel was born on October 12, 1930, in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Chester and Lucille (Batson) Shaw.

Ethel was a homemaker and was known as a spitfire who kept the children and grandchildren in line. She enjoyed baking and making candy for friends and family during the holidays. Ethel was baptized at the Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ.

Survivors include her three children: Kenneth (Sharon) Earnest, Janice Gupton and Sandra (Donald) Tipton.

Two sisters, Sharon, and Linda; she also was graced with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother George W. “Bill” Shaw, sisters, Betty Rigg, Phyllis Epping, Ramona Allen, Jaunita Shaw and Wanda Shaw, and a grandson-in-law Devin Deming.

Graveside services will be Friday, March 8, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Greenmount Cemetery. A private family visitation is planned. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Service arrangements are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Messages may be shared online at www.dukerandhaugh.com.
