Esther Lorena (Reese) Taylor
Esther Lorena (Reese) Taylor, age 90, of the Curtis Creek Gracious Retirement Living, formerly of 3609 Queen Anne, died on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 5:50 Am in the St. Vincent Home. She was born on March 4, 1920 in Broadus, Montana, the daughter of John & Hallie ( Brown ) Reese. Esther married Odell Taylor on November 8, 1942 in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1992. Esther worked side by side with her husband at Tri-State and Taylor’s Furniture Store which they had owned since 1955. Through the years, Esther and Odell enjoyed boating on the Mississippi with their children and grandchildren. They also enjoyed playing euchre with friends Mary & Shorty Thompson and eating out at Maid Rite, Elders, Plaza and the Patio. Esther was an avid fan of the Quincy High Blue Devils. After her husband’s death, Esther enjoyed traveling with her sister, Beverly Howser. As her health declined she had the loving support of her son Richard and daughter in law: Rev. Judith Taylor. She especially looked forward to the meals (especially desserts) that they brought to her.

TWO CHILDREN: Richard O. Taylor and his wife Judith of Quincy; Linda Wyatt and her husband Jim of Rockford, IL
FOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Alexander J. Taylor & his wife Robyn and Nicholas J. Taylor all of Quincy; and Todd E. Wyatt and Ted B. Waytt and his wife Beata all of Denver, Co.
FOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Jackson, Skylar, Zachary and Annabelle.
TWO SISTERS: Beverly Howser of Quincy and Virginia Davis and her husband Jack of California.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, Esther was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Edward Reese and a sister: Mildred Christner.
Private Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice. www.dukerandhaugh.com
