Erma Frances Amos
Erma Frances Amos, age 99, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Lake Shore Hills in Quincy and Canton, MO died on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in the Home. She was born on October 8, 1914 in Breckenridge, MO the daughter of Harry & Lillie (Crist) Thompson. She married Benjamin E. Amos on February 2, 1935 in Granite City, IL. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1991 soon after celebrating 56 years of marriage. Mrs. Amos and her husband resided in Granite City, IL, St. Louis, MO, Cape Girardeau, MO and for many years in Canton, MO where they raised their sons.
Mrs. Amos attended school in Missouri, moving to Quincy with her parents when she was 8 years old. She graduated from Quincy High School and later attended John Wood Community College. She was church secretary at Immanuel Methodist Church in Canton, MO and was a secretary at the H. L. S. Clinic in Quincy.
Erma was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Quincy Chapter. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Columbia, MO Chapter. She was a Past member of Blessing Hospital Volunteers, and a former member of Adams County Senior Council. She was also a former member of John Wood Life Learning Committee and R.S.V.P. She was presently a member of Madison Park Christian Church.
Erma is survived by:
TWO SONS: Don Amos and his wife Bette of Yucca Valley, CA; and Chris Amos and his wife Jan of Columbia, MO;
THREE GRANDCHILDREN: Nancy Amos; Scott Amos and his wife Rania and Ron Amos and his wife Heather.
TWO GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Gabrielle Amos and Benjamin Amos
STEP-GRANDCHILDREN INCLUDE: Lisa Fulce and Ryder Jarvis
ADDITIONAL SPECIAL FAMILY MEMBERS INCLUDE: Violet Looney; Cathy Barnhart and her husband Stan; and Brandon Barnhart.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other family survive.
In addition to her husband, Erma was preceded in death by a brother: Fenton Thompson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, MO. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.

I am so sorry for your loss. Erma was a sweet lady. I would run into her every once in a while and we would have a good visit about the old neighborhood. My thoughts and prayers are with your families.
