Emma Hayes

Emma Loraine Hayes, age 92, of the St. Vincent Home, formerly of 712 Washington, died on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 11:35 PM in the home. She was born on April 12, 1919 in Batchtown, IL the daughter of Solomon & Mary (Bernt) Lesseg. She grew up in Hull, IL and graduated from Hull High School and later Gem City Business College. She married Richard D. “Mickey” Hayes on July 20, 1940 in Hannibal, MO. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1994. Emma worked at the International Shoe Factory, Motorola, MaidRite East and Elders. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, NASCAR races, NBA Basketball and Bingo.

Emma is survived by:
ONE DAUGHTER: Karen Griggs and her husband Lannie of Liberty, IL
ONE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: Kathleen Hayes of Tucson, AZ
SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN: Shelli Weed and her husband Wayne, Jr., Cami Mock and her husband Jeff, Nancy Hayes, Andrea DiAsio and her husband Ryan; Betsy Bliven and her husband Joe; George Griggs and his wife Dani; and Teri Griggs and her significant other Nathan Voss.
SEVEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Kruse Allensworth, Shelby Allensworth, Kristie Tipton and her husband Adam, Joshua Mock and his wife Erica, Courtney Bliven, Derek Griggs, and Jordan Griggs.

In addition to her husband, Emma was also preceded in death by two sons: Terry Lee Hayes and Thomas Willian Hayes, a great-grandson David Lee Mock, and three sisters: Marguerite Perrine, Inez Barnett and Helen Stolte.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 9:30 in the DUker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church by Msgr. Michael Kuse. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church or to the St. Vincent Home.

    Aunt Larry: We will miss your sunny smile and great sense of humor. You have been one of the rare ones who could keep Tom on his toes.
