Elmer John “Junnie” Boll, Jr
Elmer John “Junnie” Boll, Jr., age 84, of 1601 Chestnut St., Quincy, died on Saturday, June 16, 2012 in the home. He was born August 11, 1927 in Quincy, the son of Elmer & Helen (Anderson) Boll. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Winking on May 7, 1949 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quincy. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2010.
Elmer graduated from Quincy Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Navy stationed in Washington DC.
He was employed by Ameren CIPS as a gas utility man. He retired in 1989 after 32 years of service.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He also was a lifetime member of the Southside Boat Club and a member of the United Commercial Travelers. He was active in the Boy Scouts as an assistant scout master. All three of his sons became Eagle Scouts.
He was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed hunting, bowling and cooking, music, singing and dancing.
He is survived by: SIX CHILDREN: Steven Boll and his wife Carlene Kemner Boll of Springfield, IL, Jeffrey Boll of Quincy and Thomas Boll and Jan Hoffman of Liberty, IL; Sharon Lisenbee and her husband Dennis of The Colony, TX, Kathy Boll of Quincy, and Beth Barlow and her husband Rick of Keokuk, IA;
FIFTEEN GRANDCHILDREN; EIGHT GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN and two on the way along with a BROTHER-IN-LAW, Marvin Winking and his wife Jeannette also survive.
In addition to his wife, Betty, and his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Roemer along with her husband John.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 9:30 A.M. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a funeral mass at 10:00 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
Dear family, I’m so sorry to hear of Elmer’s death. I enjoyed him and all the family, being his hospice volunteer. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
