Elmer J. Caspermeyer

Elmer J. Caspermeyer, age 86, of the St. Vincent Home, formerly of 1527 Chestnut, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in the Home. He was born on July 24, 1924 in Quincy, the son of John & Johanna (Hessing) Caspermeyer. He married Evelyn H. Steinbrecher on June 25, 1957 in St. John Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on April 5, 1988. Mr. Caspermeyer worked for Irwin Paper Co for many years. He later worked for Blessing Hospital and volunteered at the Hospital after his retirement.

Elmer was a member of the American Legion, the Mart Heinen Club, the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Secular Franciscans. Elmer was also an associate of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.

Elmer is survived by:
ONE SISTER: Sister Clarence, PHJC of Donaldson, Indiana
A BROTHER-IN-LAW: Don Steinbrecher Sr., and his wife Mary of Quincy.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

In addition to his wife, Elmer was also preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Lawrence, Edward, Harold, Helen, Virgil and Mary Caspermeyer and Clara Gramazio.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 1:00 PM in Calvary Cemetery by Father Don Blaeser. Military rites to be conducted by American Legion Post #37. There is no visitation but friends are invited to the graveside services. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent Home or to St. Francis Catholic Church.
