Elmer “Charley” Lane Jr.
Elmer “Charley” Lane Jr., age 55, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, in the Country View Care Center in Macomb. Charley was born on June 10, 1966, in Quincy to Elmer C. and Bernadine Dixie (Thieman) Lane Sr. He married Crystal Davis on May 9, 2020, in their home in Quincy. She survives.
Charley graduated from Quincy Senior High School. He worked as a plumber’s assistant in South Carolina for over 10 years before moving back home to Quincy where he worked at Denman Medical for 5 years.
Charley was a member of the Crossing Church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, cooking, going on trips, riding his bicycle, and collecting miniature collector’s cars.
In addition to his wife Crystal, Charley is survived by his mother, Dixie Savage of WA; his son, Charles “Chase” Lane of Columbia, SC and his stepdaughter, Lily Ann Rose Davis Fleer of Quincy; one sister, Ruth White of Pekin, IL; and his best friend, Chris Thomas of Batesburg-Leesville, SC.
Charley was preceded in death by his father.
Cremation has been accorded to Charley. A Celebration of Charley’s life will be held at the Crossing Conference Center on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Crystal Lane to help with expenses. Arrangements are in the care of the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
