Elizabeth M. Galloway

Elizabeth “Liz” M. Galloway, age 99, of Quincy died on Thursday, January 28, 2021 in Good Samaritan Home. She was born on October 21, 1921 in Thayer, Missouri, the daughter of Seay and Eugenia (Siemer) McLelland.

Elizabeth married and raised her family in California and was content in her role of homemaker. After the death of her first husband and father of her children, Floyd Schoonover, she moved to the Midwest and met her second husband, Ed Galloway. Together they moved to Wyoming and settled in Jackson Hole with an unobstructed view of the Tetons from their balcony.

Liz and Ed spent 20 years traveling the state of Wyoming and the surrounding area with Yellowstone being one of their favorite hangouts. Upon the death of her second husband, she returned to the Midwest and helped raise her two granddaughters Laura and Lacey.

She is survived by her children: Floyd Schoonover of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rita Rokita of Quincy, Illinois and Greg Schoonover of Casper, Wyoming; she had four grandchildren: Susan Arguelles, Paul Schoonover, Laura Rokita (deceased) and Lacey Rokita; one great grandson, Joaquin Arguelles; and one sister, Martha Cole.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, daughter, Eugenia Schoonover and one brother, John McLelland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Inurnment will be in San Fernando Mission Catholic Cemetery in Mission Hills, California at a later date. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish, of which she was a member.
