Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Smith

Elizabeth M. ‘Liz’ Smith, age 83, of Quincy, formerly of Liberty, died on Friday, May 18, 2018 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on October 9, 1934 in Calhoun County, IL the daughter of Ervin and Nana Mae (Stewart) Martin. She married Leo Smith on March 12, 1960. He preceded her in death in 1993. Along with her husband, Liz ran the ‘Liberty Café’ from 1970 to 1976. She was of the Catholic Faith. Liz loved Rummie, Bingo and slot machines.

She is survived by:
TWO DAUGHTERS: Debbie Hagerbaumer and her husband Gary of Quincy and Diane Meyer and her husband Jake of Jacksonville, IL.
NINE GRANDCHILDREN: Cory Hagerbaumer and his wife Amanda; Trevor Hagerbaumer; Tasha Hagerbaumer; and Lacey Hagerbaumer; Travis Griffith and his fiancé Laura Genenbacher; Christina Lomelino and her husband George; Hannah Meyer; Hailey Meyer; and Garrett Meyer.
13 Great Grandchildren
SIX SIBLINGS: Carl Martin and his wife Phyllis; Fred Martin and his wife Carolyn; Carolyn Summers; Lillian ‘Lil’ Hannel and her husband Lee; Sharon Campbell, and Sam Martin.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Liz was also preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren Jeremy Frericks and Brody Griffith and a brother: Jerome Martin.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in St. Brigid Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arranements.
