Eileene Anderson
Eileene C. Anderson, age 93, of Quincy, died on Friday, January 26, 2018 in St. Vincent’s Home. She was born on November 11, 1924 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of Edward and Marie (Geers) Schlangen. She married Robert G. “Bob” Anderson on June 19, 1948 in St. Rose Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 4, 2013.
She was a 1942 graduate of Notre Dame Academy and received her nursing diploma from St. Mary School of Nursing in 1945. Eileene was a parishioner of the Church of St. Peter. She was also a longtime member of Spring Lake Country Club. She enjoyed working with her flowers both indoors and outdoors, and was an avid grower of orchids and roses.
She always enjoyed entertaining friends and family both at their home and at their cabin in Missouri (the “Last Resort”). Christmas was her favorite time of year, and her and Bob’s house was always fully decorated for the season and many parties with family and friends were held during these times.
She, along with Bob, always attended as many of their grandchildren’s activities as possible, including sports, dancing, concerts and everything else they were involved with.
She is survived by:
Two sons, Kent Anderson and his wife Ann, and Louis Anderson and his wife Barbara, all of Quincy;
Five grandchildren, Matthew Anderson, Sarah E. Anderson, Brian Anderson and his fiancée Alissa Millard, Laura Anderson, and Mark Anderson and his fiancée Sarah Branch.
Three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Gabriel, and Mia Anderson.
One brother: Fr. Lou Schlangen
One sister-in-law: Marilyn Scheufele
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the Church of St. Peter. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at the Church of St. Peter. Memorials may be made to the QND Foundation, the St. Peter School and to Masses in her memory. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Dear Father Schlangen and Anderson Family,
I am so sorry about my dear cousin’s death, as I told my mother last weekend, when I come home this weekend I will go see Eileene. I will miss her phone calls and as always her kindness and dinners I had at her home. I will miss her as I did Bob too. Both were very kind to me. My mother sang her wedding at St. Rose and I guess is the last the wedding group, We plan on attending the funeral and our prayers are for her soul now.
