Edward Wiewel

Edward “Dude” Joseph Wiewel, 70, of 820 N. 24th St., Quincy, died peacefully in Good Samaritan Home on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Edward was born on March 13, 1947 in Adams County to Oliver “Buck” and Agnes Dieker Wiewel . He graduated in 1965 from Liberty High School. Edward married Janet Marian Genenbacher on March 15, 1975.

Edward worked as a construction operator for many years at Sparks and Wiewel Construction. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, and chatting with his family and many friends.

He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church where he often served as an usher and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Edward is survived by his children, Jennifer Westberg and her husband, Andrew, of Hillsboro, Oregon and Joseph Wiewel and his wife Victoria of Quincy; grandchildren, Rebekah and Jared Westberg, and Lucas and Xavier Wiewel. In addition he is survived by seven brothers, August “Dick” Wiewel and his wife, Dolores, of Quincy, Floyd Wiewel and his wife, Sharon, of Quincy, Dale Wiewel and his wife, Karla, of Fowler, Mark Wiewel and his wife, Paulette, of Mendon, Terry Wiewel and his wife, Cathy, of Maywood, Mo., Brad Wiewel of Quincy and Bruce Wiewel of Peoria; and three sisters, Betty McCoy of Leonard, Mo., Phyllis Metzger of Quincy and Theresa Ehrhardt and her husband, Spike, of Hannibal, Mo.

In addition to his wife, Ed was also preceded in death by his parents and many other family members.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 at 11:00 Am in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:30 until 10:30 at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital.
