Edward Patrick Hummert
Edward P. Hummert age 77, of 1015 Christopher Ct. Quincy, died on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:47 a.m. in the Emergency Room of Blessing Hospital. He was born April 7, 1935 in Quincy a son of Edward William and Mary Catherine (Simons) Hummert. He married Mary Elizabeth Williams on April 14, 1956 in St. Peter Catholic Church and she survives.
Edward was employed at Gardner Denver for 43 years, retiring in 1998. He was a 1953 graduate of Notre Dame High School and he attended Quincy College.
Edward was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, where he was instrumental in the planting and care of the trees that surround the main building, which today are a beautiful part of the landscape at the K of C. Edward was an avid golfer and played for many years at Westview Golf Course where he recorded a hole-in-one on #9. He loved sports and especially was a fan of Quincy Notre Dame girls sports.
Edward was very proud of his entire family, his children, grandchildren and in-laws.
In addition to his wife Mary, survivors also include his children, three sons, Michael (Lisa) Hummert; James (Robin) Hummert and William (Cathy) Hummert; two daughters, Ruth (Mike) Liesen all of Quincy; and Nancy (Tim) Hall of Framingham, MA.
his grandchildren, Neil, Blaine and Lauren Hummert; Matt (Donna) Liesen; Andy Liesen and his fiancee Jessilyn; Beth (Julian) Lagunas; Erin (Devon) Stegeman; Sara (Richard) Markey; Stephanie, Jordan, Riley and Sydney Hummert; a great-grandson, Jonathan Liesen.
A sister, Dorothy (Eugene) Schubert; in-laws Connie Williams, Robert (Linda) Williams, and Ann (Jim) Mulvey; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Alice Killeen and her husband, Eugene; and a brother-in-law Tom Williams.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh. So sorry to hear of your dads passing. He was a really great guy! There was never a time when I saw him and your mom that he didn’t stop and talk. He was always happy and joking around!! He will be missed. Prayers to you and your family.

Mary, Paul and I were sorry to hear of Ed’s death. He was such a great guy. We always enjoyed talking to the two of you, primarily at lunch after meals on wheels. You and the family will be remembered in our prayers.
I have such special thoughts and memories of Uncle Ed! He touched my life in a special way and I will miss him. My prayers to Aunt Mary and all my cousins and their families during this time of loss.
