Edward “Ed” John Clark

Edward “Ed” John Clark, age 77, of 309 West State, Liberty, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 in Barnes Hospital, St Louis, MO. He was born on June 28, 1939 in Liberty, the son of Patrick and Alice (Gramke) Clark. He married Paula Hayden on September 23, 1961 at St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Ed graduated from Liberty High School in 1957. He worked as a real estate broker for many years and owned his own firm “Liberty Realty”. He was a part-time rural mail carrier for years, retiring a few years ago.

He was a member of St. Brigid Catholic Church. Ed loved and supported his church, family and fellow man. He was a proud Democrat, he loved gardening, mowing grass and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: E. John (Stacy) Clark, Jr.; Christina (Timothy) Dietrich and Paul Patrick Clark all of Liberty;
Grandchildren: Sandy Clark (Zack Gilmore) of Bloomington, IL; Kate Clark of Ankeny, IA; Alicia (Curt) Reis of Fowler, IL; Michael Dietrich of New York, NY; Joshua Dietrich of Mt. Sterling, IL; John Clark of Biloxi, MS; Tom (Sabrina) Clark of Mascoutah, IL; Patrick Clark, Bill Clark, David Dietrich, Elizabeth Dietrich and Anna Rose Dietrich all of Liberty; Great-Grandchildren: Cale Jansen, Rhylan Reis and Noah Gilmore. His brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim (Barb) Hayden of Liberty, along with nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Patricia Clark Craig and Mary Katherine Clark Toth and a niece, Kelly Craig.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Brigid Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church and on Saturday from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Education Foundation or St. Brigid Catholic Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    I’m so sorry to hear that Ed has passed. I remember the kindness he and Paula’s showed to me during my time living with Jim and Barb Hayden as a foreign exchange student in 2000/2001. He was a lovely man. Katherine xx
