Edna D. Barton
Edna D. Barton, age 92, of the North Adams Home, formerly of the Lampe Hi-Rise, died on April 22, 2010 in the North Adams Home. She was born on October 15, 1917 in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Gustav & Viola (Green) Melling. She married George Barton in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1972.
Edna was a cook in various places in the Quincy area including Quincy University, Quinssippi Nursing Home and the Patio. She was of the Catholic Faith. Edna was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word search puzzles.
She is survived by:
FIVE CHILDREN: George Barton, Jr and his wife Janet of Quincy, Lynda Smith and her husband Wayne also of Quincy, Richard Barton and his wife Judy of Barnhart, MO, Thomas Barton, and Lawrence Barton and his wife Linda also of Quincy.
FOURTEEN GRANDCHILDREN: Rob Barton and his wife Trina, Tina Terstriep and her husband Rick, George Barton III, Linda Hermens and her husband Don, Julie Jackman and her husband Joe, Brian Smith and his wife Angela, Christina Barton, Renee Hessling and her husband Jared; Melissa Schunk and her husband Eric, Tomiann Kinder, Lisa Donohue and her husband Scott, Dana Klocke and her husband Harold, David Barton and Janifer Doellman.
Numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters: Idella Thomas and Mary Tharp.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by Rev. Roy Bauer. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 PM. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the North Adams Home Activity Fund.
