Edna Clara Steinkamp

Edna Clara Steinkamp age 88, of 1330 Catherine Court in Quincy died on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 9:15 a.m. in her home. She was born September 6, 1926 in Melrose Twp., Illinois a daughter of Frank & Laura (Huber) Bockhold. She married Richard “Dick” Steinkamp on May 8, 1948 in Quincy’s former St. Mary Catholic Church, and he survives.

Edna was a homemaker. She was a faithful member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, and she prayed the Rosary daily. She and her husband Dick enjoyed traveling, and getting in the car and just going for a drive. Edna was a good cook, she always wanted to make sure everyone had more than enough to eat. She also enjoyed feeding and watching “her” birds.

In addition to her husband Dick, survivors also include her children: Laverne Meyer and her husband Billy of Quincy; Dale Steinkamp and his wife Judie of Center, MO; Shirley Stevenson and her husband Jay of Springfield, IL and Teresa McMillin and her husband Chris of Palatine, IL. Grandchildren: Gordon Coy and Laura Coy both of Chicago; Rich Stevenson and his wife Michelle Reich of Northlake, IL; Alex Stevenson of Fridley, MN; Connor and Maggie McMillin both of Palatine, IL, a step-grandson, Ben Meyer and his wife Sarah of Harleysville, PA; a great-grandson Jacob Stevenson and a step-great granddaughter, Grace Meyer.

A brother, Virgil Bockhold of Fowler, IL and a sister Mary Ann Chezem of Fairfax, VA; in-laws: Alvera Bockhold; Jim Steinkamp and his wife Marge; Florence Dietrich and her husband Tom; and Betty Bockhold; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law Gary Coy; brothers Sylv Bockhold; Henry Bockhold and his wife Rita; George Bockhold; sisters Fran McGee and her husband Ray; Rosie Steinkamp and her husband Elmer; Laurine Bufford and her husband Bill; in-laws: Ramon Chezem; Charlie Steinkamp and his wife Rita; Millie Bockhold.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church by the Rev. Don Blaeser, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.     Teresa, Sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing. She is now among those lucky souls in Heaven. I will never forget the both of you (total strangers to me) caring enough to share pictures and info of my Wellman / Huber ancestry. Prayers for you and the family. Karen Castle
