Edith Lorene Tingley
Edith Lorene Tingley age 88, of the Illinois Veteran’s Home formerly of Mattoon, IL died on Sunday, August 5, 2012 in Blessing Hospital. Edith was born December 9, 1923 in Elkhart, KS a daughter of Lawrence P. and Laura M. (Thompson) Fancher. She married Ellis J. Tingley on March 16, 1947 in Charleston, IL, he preceded her in death July 9, 1994.
Edith worked at General Electric in Mattoon for over 30 years as Assembly person. During that time, she helped make the lights that went to Ellis Island to light the Statue of Liberty.
Edith and her husband were members of Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon where they were custodians for many years.
She was a loving person, who kept very busy doing whatever she could to help her fellow residents at the Veteran�s Home. Edith also loved gardening.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Coale and her husband Larry of Windsor, IL;
Brothers: Jim Fancher of Midwest City, OK and Larry Fancher of McAllen, TX;
Three Sisters: Mrs. Ethel (Wayne) Wooten of Tahoka, TX; Esther Servise of Mattoon, Mrs. Pat (Frank) Ryan of Gresham, OR;
4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,a great-granchild Andy Cross and two brothers, Lewis and Bill Fancher.
Interment will be at Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Quincy.
No services are planned at this time. Funeral Arrangements are with the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
