Dr. Robert Wensing

Dr. Robert Wensing, age 84, of 2011 Sylvia Court, Quincy, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in his home. He was born on July 16, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois a son of Frank & Helen (Freiburg) Wensing. He married Marian Laake on July 10, 1948 in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.

Dr. Wensing was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, and the Holy Name Society.

Dr. Wensing was a graduate of Notre Dame High School. He served in the United States Navy 145th Naval Construction Batallion. He attended Quincy University and he was a 1951 graduate of the Illinois College of Podiatry Cooperative. He returned to Quincy and practiced for forty one years at his business, Dr. Robert Wensing Podiatry, before his retirement in 1992.

He enjoyed playing golf and he was a Cubs fan. Dr. Wensing was a member of the 4th Degree of the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. He also attended the White House Retreat in St. Louis, Missouri for many years.

In addition to his wife, Marian, survivors include:
THREE SONS: Ronald Wensing and his wife Barb of Crown Point, IN, Michael Wensing of Jefferson City, MO, and James Wensing of Quincy;
TWO DAUGHTERS: Katherine Schlepphorst and her husband Jim of Quincy, and Mary Lou Hagemeier and her husband Jeff of Woodbury, MN;
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Lynn Argabright and her husband Chad, Elizabeth Gall and her husband Brian, Eric Schlepphorst, Tyler, Matt, Megan, & Anna Hagemeier, and Ronald Wensing;
ONE SISTER: Rita Terford and her husband Jack of Quincy;
ONE BROTHER-IN-LAW: Richard Laake and his wife Joan of Haysville, KS.
Several in-laws, nieces, & nephews also survive.

Dr. Wensing was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Francis, Norbert, and Paul Wensing, and a brother-in-law, Paul Laake.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 12:00 Noon in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and 12:30 P.M. in St. Francis Catholic Church by Father Don Blaeser, O.F.M. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a rosary at 5:00 P.M., followed by a Knights of Columbus Service. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus T. V. Mass for Shut-Ins, or Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE.

    I am sending this the Quincy Ostomy Support Group. Dr Robert was a member for over 15 years.
    We are giving a memorial in His name to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice
