Dr. Karl Richard Knoblauch
Dr. Karl Richard “Dick” Knoblauch, age 84, of 4700 Pebble Beach Dr., died on November 25, 2017 in Good Samaritan Home. He was born on September 7, 1933 in Trenton, NJ, the son of Karl Russell and Irma (Mather) Knoblauch. Married Virginia Stout on June 23, 1956 in Trenton, NJ. She preceded him in death September 22, 2012.
Dick graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with his Doctorate of Dental Science in 1960. He later received his Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University. Dr. Knoblauch was a dentist with his own practice in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. He later became a professor of dentistry, retiring from the Univeristy of Detroit in 1987.
Dick was a former parishioner at the Living Lord Lutheran Church in Vero Beach, Fl. Since he became a resident at the Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, he attended the daily devotion at the Good Samaritan Home Chapel.
Dick had a great love of the sea, which started on Long Beach Island, NJ where he learned to sail and was an instructor at the LBI Yacht Club. In later years he volunteered at the Alliance for a Living Ocean at Long Beach Island. He was an avid sailor, craftsman and builder. His built his own 33 foot double ended sailboat named ‘The Sea Dreamer’. He loved to play bridge but most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Kathryn Knoblauch of Indianapolis, IN; Kristin Knoblauch also from Indianapolis and Carolyn Musholt and her husband Alan from Quincy, IL.
FOUR GRANDCHILDREN: Kayla Knoblauch; 1st Lt David Musholt and his wife Brittany; Abigayle Musholt and 2nd Lt. Steven Musholt.
SISTER: Janet Zimmerman
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 6:00 Pm in the Chapel of the Good Samaritan Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in New Jersey. Visitation will be held at the Chapel of the Good Samaritan Home on Monday from 4:00 until the time of the services at 6:00. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home or to Alliance for a Living Ocean. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Just learned of Dick’s passing. He was definitely the most influential faculty member for me when I was a Student at New Jersey Dental School. When I was experiencing any problems I could always go to see him and he had a special way of calming me down. After graduation, he hired me as a Part-Time Instructor in the Department he chaired. I last saw him at his 70th Birthday Party. Thank you, Dick, for all you meant to me! Rest In Peace, old friend.
Dick was a second cousin and for a while my dentist in Yardley, PA. He was always a positive guy and just so full fun. His wife, Ginny was a classmate of mine and they were truly extremely in love with each other. When we talked of old times he kept mentioning how he missed Ginny. His 3 daughters were his pride and joy.Dick and Ginny can now be forever united in their love.
