Dorothy Schutte

Dorothy B. Schutte, age 92, of the Sunset Home, formerly of 1519 College, died on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 in the Sunset Home. She was born on February 28, 1925 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Clem and Clara (Obert) Frericks. She married Herman Schutte on May 1, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 7, 1977.

Dorothy was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and was a former member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

In earlier years, Dorothy worked in housekeeping at Quincy University and in private homes. She also worked as a voting judge for many years. Dorothy enjoyed playing cards and attending card parties. She was an avid fan attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting activities. She loved gardening. She collected newspaper clippings regarding family and friends resulting in many scrapbooks.

Dorothy is survived by:
THREE CHILDREN: Don Schutte (Donna) of Quincy; Steve Schutte (Rose Daniels) of Quincy and Joan Buskirk (Cruz Baldillez) of Carlsbad, Texas.
TEN GRANDCHILDREN: Keith Reed, Tina Meyer (Ray), Angela Heaston; Dana Reynolds (Jason); Deanna Church (Kent); Danielle Doellman (Scott); Chris Schutte (Stacey) ; Kyle Schutte, Kimberly Schutte and Rachel Wood (James).
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Jake Reed (Lana); Katie Leebold (Jesse); Seth Reed, Lucas Reed, Jessica Wardlow, Brooke Meyer, Jorden Smith (Nick); Ellie Reynolds, Macie Reynolds, Heather Church, Erika Church, Bennett Church and Kynlee Church, Gavin Doellman, Garrett Doellman; Eastyn Schutte, Coltyn Schutte; Brendehn Schutte, Zain Schutte and Kolbie Schutte. Levi Heaston, Cassi Heaston and Emili Heaston; Catherine Wood, Gabriel Wood, and Enoch Wood.
GREAT-GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN; Cash, Jocelyn and Jaclyn Leebold and Cohen Reed.
ONE SISTER: Sister Clarita Frericks
ONE SISTER-IN-LAW: Barb Frericks.
SON -IN-LAW: Roger Sohn
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by 2 daughters: Shirley Reed and Phyllis Sohn and one grandson Scott Sohn. Seven brothers: George (Edith), Joseph (Mildred), Fred, John, Matt (Rosemary), Tony (Lucille) and Eugene Frericks. Four Sisters: Sister Andrea Frericks and Sister Catherine Frericks, Virginia Meyer (Leonard), and Agnes Frericks in infancy.

The family would like to recognize Sunset Home for the great care and love they gave to Dorothy for the last 7 years.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 9:30 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Adams County, IL or to St. Francis Catholic Church. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
