Dorothy M. (Potter) Mathison age 96, of Sunset Home in Quincy, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 2:15 p.m. in the home. Dorothy was born in Herculaneum, MO on November 22, 1921 a daughter of Clifford and Ocal (Smith) Potter.

She married Norman Loehr Mathison on May 20, 1940 in St. Louis, MO. Norman preceded her in death in 1990.
Dorothy had worked as a nurse’s aide in Belleville, IL and Rolla, MO.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Dorothy was an excellent cook and an avid shopper. She enjoyed league bowling for many years, and during that time won many trophies. She and her sister liked to go fishing together for catfish, and in more recent years Dorothy regularly played cards with her Friday group at the Senior Center.

Survivors include her children, Daniel L. (Jan) Mathison of Ursa; Keith A. (Ellen) Mathison of Arlington, TX and a daughter-in-law, Georgia Mathison of Apache Junction, AZ; Eleven grandchildren; 40 great and 14 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Wayne and Mickey Mathison; four brothers and one sister.

Services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in ValHalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, IL. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
