Dorothy M. Janssen age 90, of Quincy passed away on Wednesday,
September 6, 2017 at 8:55 a.m. in Blessing Hospital.

Dorothy was born June 24, 1927 in Quincy, the daughter of Frank and Josephine (Mast) Altgilbers. She married John Janssen on April 28, 1963 in St. Francis Church. He preceded her in death on May 10, 1992.

She worked at Brower Factory for 20 years and for the School District of Carthage. She had also worked at Quincy Walmart as a Greeter.

Dorothy liked family get-togethers and in her younger years, going camping.

Survivors include two sons, James Janssen and his wife Jeanne of Quincy and Michael Janssen of Davenport, Iowa; grandchildren, Andrew (Nikita) Janssen, Lydia (Dalen) Turcsak, Brody Janssen and Taylor Janssen; a step-grandson Sebastian Barry and a great-grandson, Elijah Janssen.

Brothers, Donald Altgilbers and his wife Kathleen, Wilfred Altgilbers and his wife Kathleen and Frank Altgilbers; Sisters, Florine Sparrow and her husband Elmer, Carlene Wolf all of Quincy; Frances Evoy and her husband Raymond of Springfield, IL. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother Joseph Altgilbers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Carthage, IL.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the Donor’s Choice.
