Dorothy G. Olps

Dorothy G. Olps, age 88, of 2031 Spring St., died on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Blessing Hospital. She was born on October 21, 1927 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Carl A. & Rosina A. (Kenning) Timpe. She married Richard “Dick” Olps on April 23, 1949 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 1, 2000. First and foremost, Dorothy was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker for her family. She also had worked at the Illinois Bell Company and then later at Sears.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Church. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, and NARFE. Dorothy loved to play cards and attend card parties. She loved children and all types of music. Dorothy was a huge Cardinal Baseball fan and she also enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles.

HER CHILDREN: Barbara Seeley and her husband Dwight of Quincy; Rick Olps of North Aurora, IL; Katherine Seifert of Joplin, MO; Janet Ward of Quincy; Don Olps and his wife Brenda of Quincy; Carol Howard of Quincy; Dave Olps and his wife Ann of Sugar Hill, GA; and Mary Yurkovich and her husband Dave of Aurora, IL
HER GRANDCHILDREN: Chris Gibbons; Tim Gibbons and his wife Jennifer; Rob Gibbons and his wife Meghan; Laura Evans and her husband Matt; Jeremiah Olps; Nick Seifert; Nicole Seifert; Caitlin Sheeder and her husband Zak; Keriann Steitz and her husband Steve; Christina Martin and her husband Mike; Matt Olps and his wife Nicole; Alyssa Olps; Kerry Lea Howard; Ryan Olps; Brianna Olps, Emma Yurkovich and George Yurkovich.
HER GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Brandon Gibbons; Jacob Gibbons; Mason Gibbons; Sadie Gibbons; Paige Trevarrow; Abbey Gibbons; Delaney Gibbons; Makaylin Evans; Charles Evans; Kaci Aul; Austin Olps; Weston Olps; Owen Olps; Caroline Olps and an additional great-granddaughter due to be born in August.
TWO BROTHERS: Gene Timpe and his wife Judie; and Jim Timpe and his wife Elaine
ONE BROTHER-IN-LAW: Bert Allen
ONE SISTER-IN-LAW: Doris Timpe
Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 children; Thomas Olps and Connie Olps, a granddaughter: Jennifer Olps, a sister: Mary Allen and a brother: Tom Timpe.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 9:30 AM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:00 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Masses said in Dorothy’s memory, Boy’s Town of America, St Jude Perpetual Adoration Society or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    So sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. She was a wonderful woman and was always nice to me. She was my den mother in cub scouts. The family is in my thoughts and prayers.
