Dorothy “Dottie” V. Bowers age 90, formerly of Lampe Hi Rise died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 in St. Vincent’s Home. Dorothy was born October 25, 1919 in Hannibal, MO, a daughter of William and Ellen (James) Dufur. She married Mark Bowers and he preceded her in death.

For many years, Dottie worked as a cook. She enjoyed square dancing and she was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. She loved frog legs at Elders and blue berry waffles at the Coach House.

Dottie’s survivors include three nieces and one nephew, Carolyn Powell and LaVerne Lee Ogle of Quincy; Rose Mihely and Bill Dufur of Ohio. Many great and great great nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Everett, Russell and Clifford Dufur, nephews, Carl and Douglas Dufur and her niece, Patti Giorgi.

Dottie has donated her body to the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. There are no services planned at this time. Memorials in her name may be made to St. Vincent’s Home.
