Dorothy “Dottie” A. Myers

Dorothy “Dottie” A. Myers, age 87, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in the Heritage Manor in Mt. Sterling. She was born on February 11, 1934 in Des Moines, IA the daughter of Arthur and Katie (Miller) Rothgeb. She married James L. Myers on June 6, 1953 in Luther Memorial Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on October 10, 2015.

Dottie was a secretary and then later worked in sales. She then spent several years as ‘The Pizza Lady’ at HyVee. Over the years, she had worked for Asmera Oil Co., Kay’s, Jon’s Home Center, The Furniture Connection and Baldwin School in the Library.

Dottie was Jehovah’s Witness.

Dottie enjoyed exercising at Cheryl Loatsch Studio. She was a tap dancer. She would also study the Bible with whoever wanted to listen.

The family would like to express their thanks to the Blessing Hospice, her doctors, nurses and other caregivers for the excellent care they gave Dottie.

Dottie is survived by:
HER TWIN DAUGHTERS: Kathie Marx (Tom) and Karrie Smith (Craig) all of Quincy.
GRANDCHILDREN: Tory Kaufmann and Tyler Kaufmann (Devon)
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Peyton Kaufmann, August, Vada Lou and Fia Kaufmann.
SPECIAL FRIENDS: Tom Welsh and Mary Wurtzberger along with other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Dottie was also preceded in death by her parents and a grandson Joshua T. Marx.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Quincy Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services at 1:00. Memorials may be made to Jehovah’s Witness or to the Quincy Humane Society. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    I’m so very sorry for the loss of your Dear, Beautiful Mother Dottie. She was always such a sweet, kind, loving, soft spoken lady.

    I was so sorry to hear of Dottie’s passing. I loved taking care of her & spending time with her when she was at CedarHurst. Hugs & prayers to her family.
