Doris Jean Murfin

Doris Jean Murfin of Payson, passed away in Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL, on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. She was born in Quincy, IL, on June 9, 1941, to Carl and Vera (Cochran) Kill .
On Nov. 3, 1962, she married Kenneth Amos Murfin in the Payson Christian Church in Payson, IL. He preceded her in death.
Doris was a 1959 graduate of Liberty High School in Liberty, IL. She worked at Moorman Manufacturing in Quincy, IL and (30) years as high school secretary at Payson Seymour High School retiring in 2009.
She was an active member of the Richfield United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, chairman of the Church Board, Bible School and performed in the Richfield Kitchen Band. At the age of 9 she started playing piano for worship, special services and led the King’s Kids youth musical choir. Doris was an active member in all areas of the church her entire life. The community was blessed by her thoughtfulness and deeds that touch many lives. She will be remembered for her generosity, love of family, music, flowers, animals (peacocks) and her beautiful smile.
Surviving are her: three Children, Donna and (Brian) Frese of Liberty, IL., James and (Susan) Murfin of Liberty, and Jayne and (Greg) Clampitt of Shawnee, KS.; ten Grandchildren, Amanda, Austin and Aden Frese, Hillary Marks, Wade, Isaac and Brooklyn Murfin, and Garrett, Jeannett, and Jannell Clampitt; Great grandchildren: Gentry Jones and Gracelyn Alger; one Brother: Harold Kill, Liberty, IL; four Sisters: Iola Worley, Liberty, IL, Donna Jenkins, Jacksonville, FL, Pauline Parrish, Randleman, NC, Carolyn (Gaylord) Oitker, Plainville, IL; one Aunt; Lillian Cochran; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death: were her parents, and sister Glenna Brockschmidt.
SERVICES: 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15 in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy, IL. conducted by Pastor Lois Sorrill. Burial following services in Kingston Cemetery, Kingston, IL.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 14 in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
MEMORIALS: Educational Scholarship in her name to the Payson Seymour Schools.
ARRANGEMENTS: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, Quincy.

    I am so very sorry for your loss. Your mother was a terrific lady, and a wonderful lady. If she had not introduced my mother to my father, who knows where I am in the world. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
