Dorcas E. King
Dorcas E. King, age 79, of 915 N. 10th Street, Quincy, died on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 3:35 a.m. in Sunset Home. She was born on October 15, 1929 in Brooklyn, Illinois, a daughter of Jesse and Lucille (Parsons) Allen. She married LeRoy King on November 26, 1953 in St. Rose of Lima Church. He survives.
Dorcas was a 1946 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. She was a home maker.
She was a former member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary ,the American Postal Workers Union Auxiliary and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Dorcas loved spending time with her grandchildren and she was very proud of all of them.

FIVE CHILDREN: Shirley Brown and her husband Jerry of Weatherford, TX, Linda Lueckenhoff and her husband Mark of Ewing, MO, Norbert King and his wife Colete of Stanford, KY, Debra Woodworth and her husband Tom of Payson, IL, and Kevin King and his wife Lori of El Cajon, CA;
THIRTEEN GRANDCHILDREN;
FIVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN;
THREE BROTHERS: Carroll Allen and his wife Patty of Mt. Home, AK, James Allen and his wife Ruth of Quincy, and Bill Allen and his wife Becky of Quincy;
THREE SISTERS: Anna Chapman of Quincy, Ethel Willingham of Quincy, and Virginia Kaelber (Walter, Jr.) of Quincy.
Many nieces, nephews, and in-laws also survive.
Dorcas was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Larry T. King, a granddaughter, Nicole King, and a great-grandson, Alexander Miller.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 9:45 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and 10:30 in St. Anthony Catholic Church by Father Tom Hagstrom. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus.
