Doraetta Day

Doraetta Day age 66, of 1723 Oak Street Quincy, died on Thursday, December 11, 2008 in her home. Doraetta was born September 11, 1942 in Quincy, a daughter of William and Goldie (Abel) Powell. She married Thomas Day on September 4, 1976 in Quincy and he survives.

Doraetta was a homemaker. She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt who always had her arms and her doors open for her family. She loved her family, and most of all cherished the time they spent together. Doraetta was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her daughters, Beth Harscher and her husband John, Barbara McDowell and her husband Melvin all of Quincy; Barbara Day of California;
sons, Warren Walker of Quincy; Thomas Day, Jr. of Minnesota and Douglas Day and his wife Lynn of Colorado.

Grandchildren, Jennifer Kelly and her husband Roger; Ryan Harscher all of Quincy;
Sierra Day of Colorado; Megan McDowell of Quincy; Scarlett Day of California; a great
granddaughter, Peyton Kelly of Quincy;
brothers, Robert Powell and his wife Marliyn and Milton Powell and his wife Dodie all of Quincy;
sisters, Blanche Selsor of Quincy and Wilma Clement of Hannibal, MO;
numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Doraetta was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. L.D. Grant. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation is Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh.
