Donald Robert Sodke, age 85, of Quincy, formerly of Lake Forest, IL, died on Monday, September 2, 2024 in his home. He was born on November 10, 1938 in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Walter and Elisa (Gruling) Sodke. He married Gaye Danielson on September 10, 1966 in Fosston, MN. She survives. Don was an engineer for FMC, working from 1966 until his retirement in 2015. He was of the Lutheran Faith.

Don enjoyed Big Band music, reading the newspaper and cooking. He served in the United States Peace Corps for 2 years in Paraguay.

In addition to his wife, Don is also survived by:
HIS CHILDREN: Jonathan Sodke (Karen), Adair Spencer (Brian) and Stephanie Schroeder (Brian).
GRANDCHILDREN: Noah, Donovan, Michael and Adalynn Spencer; Joanna and Sara Sodke; and Sydney and Margot Schroeder.
A SISTER: Luean Ausland.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and a sister LaVila Imm.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Don’s life will take place at a later date. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
