Donald J. Hoebing

Donald J. Hoebing age 85, of Quincy died on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 in Blessing Hospital. Don was born July 3, 1932 in Quincy, a son of Alphonse and Mary (Murphy) Hoebing. He married Ruth M. Terwelp on June 22, 1957 in the former St. John Catholic Church, and she survives.

Don worked as a printer for JK Creative for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, and of the Knights of Columbus.

Don was active at church and did volunteer work. He loved golfing, traveling, and most especially, his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Ruth, survivors include children: Laura “Lori” Yates and her husband Gary of Quincy; Lisa Hoebing of Chatham, IL; Linda Fox and her husband Rolland of Indianapolis, IN; Greg and his wife Cindy Hoebing of O’Fallon, IL and daughter-in-law, Amie Hoebing of Quincy.
Grandchildren: Matt (Nancy) Hillebrenner; Kristin (Jeff) Hamby; Dustin Downs (Tracy Potter); Melissa Wix; Jamie Fox; Tony Fox; Kallie Fox; Dannielle (Bill) Thorpe; Jessica Hoebing; Olivia and Nathan Hoebing. Step grandchildren: Vanessa and Terry Yates of Clayton. Great-grandchildren: Chandler and Logan Hillebrenner, Jaxson and Camryn Wix, and Casey and Leila Downs and Kayden Fox.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Joe Hoebing; three brothers, Bob, Eugene “Pete” and Richard Hoebing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted at the graveside. Visitation is Sunday 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Joe Hoebing Scholarship at Quincy Notre Dame High School.

    We were so blessed to meet Don and Ruth through Joe and Amie. We feel like unofficial members of the family. Don was a really wonderful guy! He will be missed. It helps to know that he and Joe are together. He will be missed.
