Donald H. Weiher

Donald H. Weiher died Oct. 31, 2018, in Houston, Texas.
He was born March 30, 1927, to the late James Weiher and Mary Elizabeth Tate Buss of Quincy, IL. Donald and his wife, Constance Irene Weiher were married in Yuma, Ariz., on March 17, 1951. She passed from this Earth July 30, 2012.
Don and Connie were long-time members of Immanuel Baptist Church at 24th and Lind. He was, along with his wife, Connie, sister-in-law Berta Lea Mason, and his brother-in-law, Emmett Mason, regular participants in bowling leagues at the Casino Lanes. His deceased wife, Connie, was the daughter of Harry E. Higgins and Martha A. Bellomy Higgins of Kinderhook. Don worked for many years at Motorola and the Quincy Public Schools. His most important career choice was that of an enlisted man in the U.S. Navy. He served in the Korean War and sailed around the world twice. After a 20-year hitch, he retired a Chief Petty Officer.
Don and Connie retired and moved to Point Blank, Texas in 1995 to be near their son. They were faithful members of the Point-Blank Community Church.
Survivors include son, Gregory R. (Connie Jo) Weiher; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Harry B. Higgins; granddaughter, Rachael R. (Michael A.) Collins; a grandson, Jesse C. (Rev. Joie Clee) Weiher; two great-grandsons, Corbin B. Collins and Patrick H. Weiher; four nieces, Donetta Allen, Charlene Turner, Melba McCollum and Cynthia Marshall; and two nephews, William and Michael Higgins.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Constance Irene Weiher, and his parents; James Weiher and Mary Elizabeth Tate Buss.
A private burial will take place at Kinderhook Cemetery with a memorial service at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to a charity of your choice.
