Donald “Don” Davis Farmer

Donald “Don” Davis Farmer age 67, of 1712 Curtis Creek Rd. in Quincy died on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 5:57 p.m. in Blessing Hospital. Don was born January 27, 1942 in Fort Dodge, IA a son of Lloyd and Eula (Fulton) Farmer. Don first married Rita Walker, and together they had their children, Rick and Rachel. Don later married Jeanette (Phelps) Owens on August 14, 2001 and she survives.

Don was a truck driver for Dot Foods for many years, his CB handle was “Paperman”.
He served in the U.S. Navy. Don was of the Christian faith.

Don loved to go fishing and boating. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboy fan. Don was known for telling jokes. He had a knack for using a catchy phrase and he had the ability to cheer people up by saying just the right words.

In addition to his wife Jeanette, survivors also include his children, Rick Farmer and Rachel Whaley and her husband Dean ; a grandson, Ryan Reynolds all of Ft. Worth;
step-children, Michael Owens of Chicago, IL; Mark Herron of Jefferson City, MO; Connie Herron of St. Louis, Mo and Bruce Herron of Ft. Worth.
A brother, Raymond Farmer and his wife Virginia of New York and sisters, Barbara Mueller of Iowa; Betty Shorter of Massachusetts and Jerry Williams of Georgia.
Nieces and nephews also survive.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jimmy and Bobby Farmer.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home by the Rev. V. Lee Amsler. Interment will be in Quincy Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the American Post #37. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Blessing Cancer Center.
