Donal A. Christ
Donal A. Christ age 76, of Quincy passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 in his home surrounded by his family. Don was born in Quincy on November 28, 1944 a son of R. Osmond and Elizabeth (Ricker) Christ.
He was raised in Quincy, IL and attended St Boniface Catholic School. Don graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1962 and from Quincy College in 1966.
Don was drafted and served his Country in The United States Army from 1967-1969. Upon returning to Quincy, he began his career at Quincy Compressor. While there he met and married Sue his spouse of 45 years. He was employed by Kuester Tool and Die and then by Sanders Tool. Don worked as an outside sales representative in the tri-state area for Sanders until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of Knight of Columbus.
Don and Sue were married on August 23, 1975 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Quincy. From their union, they raised a family with 2 children. Don was an active child who loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and raising his dogs. He was an avid sportsman. He spent many years playing slow pitch softball and also played couples volleyball. He was very involved with coaching youth sports for his children and attended all of their events. Don was a lifelong St.Louis Cardinal fan. It brought him great joy to watch baseball with his son, Brian. They shared a special bond with their Cardinal/Cub rivalry. Don and Sue loved to travel the country with their dear friends. They shared many adventures and all the joys that life could provide. Not only did they travel together but their friendship provided many moments of laughter and love while at home. One of Don’s greatest joys was watching his grandchildren’s accomplishments. He attended every sporting event/activity he could get to. His grandchildren filled him with love and he cherished his time with them. In recent years, Grandpa enjoyed watching his bird feeders in the backyard with his grandchildren. This provided many special moments between all of them.
In addition to his wife Susan, survivors also include his children, Brian (Angie) Christ; and Jennifer (Michael) Tyler all of Quincy. Grandchildren, Dylan and Sydney Tyler; Lexi and Logan Christ. A brother-in-law, Ron Bruder of Ankeny, IA also survives. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister, Cheryl Bruder and a son in infancy, Michael Christ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, 2020 in the Church of St. Peter by Monsignor Leo Enlow. There is no visitation, but family and friends are invited to the funeral mass. Private family burial with military honors will be conducted at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Parkinson’s Disease Research, the Church of St. Peter, or Blessing Foundation for HOSPICE.

Very sorry to hear of Don’s passing. I worked with him at Kuester Tool. His wit and humor made time fly by. My condolences to his family.
I lost touch with Don many years ago when he left Quincy Compressor. I will always remember both Don and Sue as very special people. He was the best boss a gal could ever ask for.
My deepest sympathy goes out to Don’s family along with prayers for peace and comfort.

We are very sorry to learn of Don’s passing. Don and I worked together at Kuester Tool & Die for a number of years and I’ll always remember his great sense of humor and his smile.
I also looked forward to seeing Don at the Knapheide company picnics in years past and reminiscing.
