Dolores “Dee” Theresa Burke

Dolores “Dee” Theresa Burke, age 89, of St. Louis, MO, formerly of 3621 Lindell in Quincy, IL died on Saturday, February 27, 2010 in St. Louis, MO. She was born on July 20, 1920 in Jefferson City, MO a daughter of Albert & Theresa (Bax) Schwaller. Dolores married Thomas J. Burke on April 2, 1945 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Quincy, IL. Tom preceeded her in death on May 26, 2008.

Dolores was a former member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Quincy. She worked as a secretary for Monroe Chemical Company and for Dr. Walter Stevenson & Mi-Lady Maternity. She attended Madison Grade School, Leavenworth High School in Kansas & Gem City Busines College.

Dolores was a former longtime member of SLCC, where she served as a Social Committee Chairman. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary & the Elks Lodge. Dolores volunteered in the tea room of Blessing Hospital at 14th Street. She was a Red Cross nurses aid during WWII. She was an avid vocalist and performed at various functions in Quincy during her early years. She golfed and played bridge for many years. She enjoyed sewing, reading & photography. She like gardening and was adept at flower arranging.

Survivors include:
FOUR CHILDREN: Nancy Amann and her husband Tony of Naperville, IL, Kaye Hildenbrand and her husband Fred of St. Louis, MO, Pati Burke of St. Louis, MO & Michael Burke and his wife Lore of St. Louis, MO.
EIGHT GRANDCHILDREN: Chris Amann, Cami Jacobson & her husband Dean, Courtney Reagan & her husband Darren, Missy Massey & her husband Dwight, K.C. Hildenbrand & his wife Stephanie, Meghan Cotner & her husband Jason, Adam Burke, & Colin Burke;
NINE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.

She was preceeded in death by her parents & her husband Thomas.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 10:00 in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Quincy Notre Dame.
