Dollie Francis “Frank” Utterback
Dollie Francis “Frank” Utterback, age 102, of Camp Point, IL, died on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 8:54 a.m. in his home. He was born on November 7, 1911 in Hull, IL, a son of Albert Elija & Rosetta Mae (Brown) Utterback. He married Hazel Lucille Likes on July 16, 1932 in Hull, IL. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2003.
Mr. Utterback primarily was a construction worker. He was employed for twenty years with several construction companies as a member of Union 919. He also worked four years for the CB&Q railroad and farmed for fifteen years. He retired in 1976.
Frank was the patriarch of his family and for five generations of Utterback’s.
Frank enjoyed coon hunting, fishing and Pacer and Trotter Horse Racing. He also spent many years training dogs for coon hunting & racing competitions throughout the Midwest, having up to 26 dogs at one time.
He is survived by a daughter, Frances Lucille Rudicil of Liberty, IL; four sons, Albert “Leo” Utterback and his wife Diane of Liberty, Harold Eugene Utterback and his wife Betty of Liberty, Junior Lee Utterback and his wife Margaret of Camp Point, and John Allen Utterback of Liberty;two half-sisters, Mary Ellen Salsman of New London, MO and Shirley Pennywell of Monroe City, MO; twenty-eight grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 65 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel, his parents, his step-mother Edna Utterback, brothers Lawrence Utterback & Albert Elijah Utterback; half-brothers Gilbert Abney, James Abney, Albert Abney, Roy Gillum, Sylvester Eugene Utterback and Floyd Utterback; half-sister Dorothy Ricky; a daughter Edna Marie Hocking; grandchildren Frank Eugene Hileman & Albert Leo Utterback; and great-grandsons, George Lee Utterback & George Franklin Utterback.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Franks Cemetery in Richfield Township by Pastor Stacy Tomich. Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to a charity of the donor’s choice. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
I was sorry to hear of your fathers passing. The thoughts and prayers of many are with you and your family.
my condolences to the Utterback family, I remember Mr Utterback from when we lived on hwy 104, and my dad Emmett would go over to work on some wiring at the house or your barn, and my granddad John I Jackson just lived down the road and he would work with mr Utterback on projects, and of course we all rode the same school bus to Liberty, mr Utterback was a good man, my condolences to you all
