Dennis Roy Boden
Since early in the year 2016, Dennis Roy Boden, age 70, has been battling cancer with strength, determination, and a big smile. On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, the cancer won the battle and Dennis went home to our Lord and Savior.
Dennis was born on February 7, 1951 in Quincy to Donald “Don” and Rosemary (Rossiter) Boden. Dennis’ time on earth was spent having lots of fun and helping others. In his early years, Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After his return home, he married Linda Williams in June of 1971 and together they raised their two children, Dana Lake and Darren Boden and their niece Angelique Boden.
Dennis continued to serve others in the National Guard and the Army Reserves where he advanced in rank to Captain before retiring with nearly 23 years of faithful military service. Dennis later retired from the Quincy Police Department and worked for 3 years as an officer in LaGrange, Missouri.
Dennis was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church as well as the Quincy American Legion Post Number 37 where he served as Legion Commander for 3 years and with the Honor Guard.
In addition to his wife Linda, Dennis is survived by his children, Dana Lake, Darren Boden and Angelique “Angie” Boden. His grandchildren, Abbigayle Lake and Brandon Lake; his siblings, Donna Williamson, Tom Boden, Ralph (Jill) Boden and David (Merry) Boden. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Kay Steffen.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 22, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.
Interment in Greenmount Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corps Funeral Honors Detail and the Quincy American Legion Post #37.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the Hope Lodge of St. Louis located at 4215 Lindell Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63108.
I am so sorry for your loss. Dennis, as a veteran, did so much to address issues related to veterans in our community. Dennis was a very passionate advocate for the veterans and I always admired him for his commitment. As a police officer for the city of Quincy, he devoted himself to serve and protect our community. He will be greatly missed. I will keep the family in my prayers.

My deepest sympathy at your loss. I got to reminisce with Dennis at the Legion a couple years ago and caught up from old times when we lived in Quincy. Rest in Peace Marine “Semper Fi” from a fellow soldier.
I am heart-broken. One couldn’t help but love Dennis… he was like a big Teddy Bear. I have precious memories of the times we spent together Drilling in the Army Reserves, as-well-as good times spent out and about Quincy and we would run into him somewhere. The world has lost a true “nice guy,” they are getting harder to find these days… Praying for you, Linda, Dana and the Rest of the Family…. may he rest in the Peace of the Lord.
